In Norwalk, shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, March 14, first responders were dispatched to a vacant commercial building on West Avenue that left debris destroyed and was possibly set by vagrants, according to Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay.
The second fire broke out in a six-story apartment complex on Water Street when flames sparked on the sixth floor of the building, Shay said, though it was contained to the garbage compactor room.
Shay said that there was smoke damage on the sixth floor and water damage on all floors below the room the fire broke out.
Both fires are being investigated. It is unclear what caused the Water Street blaze.
No injuries were reported.
